The speeding driver narrowly avoided striking a pedestrian walking on the edge of the exit ramp. The suspect attempted to turn right onto Wilson’s Mills Road but was traveling too fast. The Kia struck a small concrete median and crashed into the side of a fuel truck traveling southbound on Wilson’s Mills Road.

  1. Endangering innocents again chasing at high speeds among the public.

Just because someone else is held liable doesn’t bring back the innocent dead or permanently injured.

Police now have ways of finding and apprehending criminals without chasing them on public roads at uncontrollable speeds.

    It has to stop.

      • Honestly, I get where AL is coming from to an extent, he/she is right. We don’t usually care until it’s our own loved one who gets hurt or killed. Then we’re the ones crying and asking why something wasn’t done sooner. These high-speed chases can be deadly, and it’s fair to question if there are safer options.

    • So what I hear you saying is…” it’s the police’ fault “. Gotcha. Feel free to call your local gang member when you have a break in, robbery or accident.

    • The law enforcement officers are not endangering the public, the criminals are. Therefore, when the criminals wreck into someone, they should be charged with attempted murder.

    • So we have a decision to make, both have repercussions. three weeks ago, Selma started to chase a Vehicle that was running from them, but cancelled the pursuit. The Vehicle continued West in a East eastbound lane and hit another Vehicle and killing the driver of that Vehicle. If you don’t chase, the criminals will run from you and cause harm.

  2. The problem is that the existing laws are no where near tough enough for this. If you run from the police in a vehicle, there should be a mandatory 15 years. If you run more than ten miles, mandatory 20 years.

  3. Criminal friendly democrats at it again. “Just let them run from the law” yea, great idea, go murder some people, then just speed away, If LE tries to pull you over. So many agencies have adopted a “No Chase” policy from pressure from criminal friendly idiots, that now they think they can just drive away from any LE agency. Of course there are instances where you should not pursue but adopting a “no chase” policy is idiotic…

    • What does this have to do with politics? The law enforcement teams chased a few kids misbehaving, the kids do what they do best – screw up – and crashed and got caught. FAFO
No where in this article does it address politics, democrats, republicans, or anyone being criminal friendly. Take your platform elsewhere.

      • These are not a couple kids misbehaving, it is a convicted felon running from the cops with a stolen car and stolen AR15 assualt rifle. He should not even be on the street if it were not for liberal judges. The 13 year old wont get anything because “its not his fault” an agenda pushed by most democrats, “they just have mental health issues” we can fix them by giving them handouts

      • If you read the entire thread, I think they were referring to a response earlier on. I normally don’t leave comments but this one got me hooked with the back and forth. People are so rude to each other nowadays.

  4. Stolen vehicle, stolen automatic weapon, the 21 year old who is a convicted felon already will be breaking in your house by the weekend and the 13 year old will be stealing your kids cell phone and beating him up at school next year….

    • Man, you got that right. Some people think a high-speed chase could get people killed, they have no idea what an AR15 could do to a large crowd. People run from the law when they have a reason, they don’t do it just for the fun of it. I am glad that the civilian was not injured or killed as well as any of the LEOs. Great job to all the LEOs involved and thank you for your service.

  5. Cops shouldn’t endanger the public by chasing people. We know cops will lie about chasing people, too. Look at the SHP cases in Wake County.

    • You think the “cops” are more of a threat than a felon in a stolen car, with a stolen AR-15? The “cops” removed a bad guy off the street and the ripple effects are probably saving someone from a drive-by shooting or some other felon-induced shooting.

  6. Yea troof, take one case out of thousands and go with that. Geezus please stop the nonsense! The cops are bad criminals are good . In the end times people will confuse evil with good and good with evil.
The idiots give LE no choice, they can’t just let them drive off into the sunset… stop blaming everyone but the criminal element!

  7. Another *** riding around stealing and committing crimes! The parents are the ones responsible for their sorry a** kids! Put them in prison is the answer that doesn’t work! The only reason they keep doing it is because they get right back out of jail and do it again 💩🔫

  8. Where is all this energy in the comments section under the article about the police officer that wants to withdraw his plea in a CHILD PORN case? Yall quick to speak on a young black male stealing a car but crickets when it comes to that sh*t. Good ol’ prejudice JoCo 😂

    • It’s pretty par for the course around here. But good luck getting anyone to show conviction and own it. Lol!

      • Born and raised here bud, you ain’t telling me anything I don’t already know 😂 it’s sad seeing the hatred still in people’s heart over something as silly as skin tone. But that’s the thing about the internet, you can be prejudice and not have to worry about people in the real world knowing! I dare people to say the sh*t they do on these article comments to people’s faces and see how it goes for them. They won’t.

  9. Its Showing….It is because people are actually defending these thugs. Nobody is defending the cop pervert. Has nothing to do with race, has everything to do with people trying to place blame on everyone except the criminals. Nobody defends the white criminals, because you cant play the race card.

    • You can hold two views at the same time and still not be a hypocrite. It’s wrong and dangerous for people (one an existing felon, and one minor child!) to steal a car and a gun, and speed away to avoid capture. It’s also worthy to be concerned about the dangerous nature of a high-speed chase to capture them.

Did you know that it’s not just dangerous for bystanders or suspects? It’s also dangerous for the cops in pursuit. Yes, they must attempt to capture the suspects, because that’s their job. They shouldn’t need to take unnecessary risks though. The circumstances in this specific case don’t imply that they did. It’s still a worthy concern, and appropriate to discuss whenever there’s been a high-speed pursuit. There really isn’t a more appropriate time to do so.

    • Nobody is saying anything period on that article. People were SO QUICK to come here and put their two cents in when a black male is involved in the problem. As a white man myself, that’s bulls**t. Yeah this guy committed a crime and should face the consequences, plain and simple. My issue is how quick all these (definitely white) keyboard warriors RUN to these articles to bash people of other races, but have NOTHING to say when it’s somebody who looks like them committing a much worse crime. Black or Hispanic articles? 40-50 comments. White article? MAYBE 2 or 3 comments. But it has nothing to do with race, right?

      • I’m lily white. I see exactly what you do. It’s a cesspool of racism and ignorance around here. I don’t think it’s limited to online either. It’s just that there’s no fear of physical repercussions or in-person accountability if they do it here. I know plenty understand they’re racist and just don’t care to deal with the social consequences for their hate. Unfortunately, there are even more that don’t consider themselves that way and don’t want to learn differently.

The obvious bias shows up in many ways on this site. It’s not limited to the comments. I rarely comment. It’s just sometimes I can’t stand what’s being passed off as factual information amongst people who don’t realize the harm it does. And sometimes I just feel compelled to remind them that intentional ignorance and bullying are signs of poor character and it’s a mistake to assume they get to own a space. Gotta push back for what’s right, especially in public.

  10. Teehee, they nabbed McKnabb. He was destined to be a felon, totally not for socio-economic reasons, but because his name predestined his future. Maybe he’ll learn about the origin of the sagging pants while he spends time in the locker, and it isn’t to look tough…

  11. In these comments, all y’all making dumba** comments about crime being a liberal driven thing… would you consider states like Florida and Texas to be liberal? Are they liberal states? That’s a rhetorical question so don’t bother making fools of yourselves. Guess what! Florida and Texas both have no-chase and no-pursuit laws. They either completely ban high-speed police pursuit or they heavily restrict the conditions when and how cops pursue fleeing criminals. Why? Because it’s dangerous and the stats say enough people become collateral damage that it warrants those restrictions.

Do the math. A high-speed chase between two cars, containing two cops and two fleeing suspects. Either car ends up crossing an intersection where nobody has been sufficiently warned to avoid it. A car containing a mom and her 3 kids unknowingly crosses that intersection and gets t-boned at high-speed, killing all of them and possibly the folks in the car that hit them as well. That’s a minimum of 4 dead people, and possibly 6. Are 4-6 dead people worth chasing down and potentially catching a suspect’s car carrying 2 people? Simple, right?

And just to be clear, it’s irrational to believe that liberals want to live in a country surrounded by dangerous people and are so motivated to that end that they’re using every possible excuse to release dangerous people into the populace. You know, where they also live, cuz they’re part of the populace.

People who desperately want to give you cheap or free healthcare, make sure everyone’s babies are fed, our elders have the means to survive without living off cat food, and maybe even a heads-up when a hurricane is fixing to erase you off the map, are not the ones aiming to destroy the country. It’s Republicans that are dedicated to giving your hard earned dollars to the already obscenely rich for no good reason, while telling y’all to bootstraps your way outta poverty that stuck you in. Use your heads.

    • Liberal judges do drive crime up. Little to No Penalty for your crime=more crime. It’s not a state thing or citizen thing. JCSO has a pursuit policy that restricts for weather, traffic conditions, public safety risks. To have a no pursuit policy no matter what,is like giving a free pass to all criminals to make sure you drive away for the scene of the crime fast and you are good to go.
As far as your other political views, stop watching the democratic owned main stream media.

      • It’s less necessary to have a full ban on pursuit in areas with fewer people. There are now plenty of alternatives for tracking suspects without the need for added risk. Only a few of those are available to rural areas though, because they don’t have the money for building the needed infrastructure. I’m certain Johnston County doesn’t have that type of funding.

“Liberal judges” don’t make laws. That’s what legislators do. Judges interpret laws when necessary. There are even times when judges have zero say in the matter, because of things like 3-strike laws. And “Conservative judges” often make similar decisions as “Liberal judges”. This isn’t as infrequent as you might think.

Such is the balance in democratic government. If they find that a specific crime would best be given a lesser penalty, there’s a context included in their decision. It includes things like regional alternative programs available to address chronic local recurring problems, deferral programs set up by not-judges, burden on local resources, and of course, that not every crime is identical and each person is unique. It’s not always black and white, and you don’t want it to be. If it were, we’d be subject to all manner of abuse of authority regardless of innocence.

Also, prosecutors have a whole lot to do with what penalties should apply, because they often make deals ahead of court to reduce the severity of charges in exchange for a guilty plea. It helps keep courts and prisons from being overwhelmed with lesser crimes that could be dealt with in more productive ways. Even lawyers and juries have input into the process! It’s quite a system!

Btw, all of this information is available to the public, but it’s not a product of “Dem owned media”, whatever that is. Most media is owned by conservatives, which is also publicly available information. Lol!

And my political views are based on common sense, not partisan politics or sensationalized media reporting. Just as I know my neighbors, who don’t even share my political views, don’t want to live in a dangerous environment where they have to fear everything, won’t choose to create that problem just to slight politically different folks in their community, you know… because they live there too, I know that Dem politicians don’t push to endanger all the people they live amongst either, because they’d have to live with that same danger. Nobody wants to sh*t where they eat and sleep, if they can help it. It’s how humans are.

If you’re content to live in a crappy space, starved of resources and quality of life which you’ve already paid for, all so that the filthy rich can keep having astronomically huge tax breaks or avoiding taxes entirely, and all you ask in return is the ability to bully, abuse and hate people who aren’t identical to you (political parties, ideologies, cultures, skin colors, etc.), then you have absolutely nothing to complain about. You currently have exactly that and, unfortunately, everyone else does too. Sorry you are getting everything you wanted.

      • Btw, I totally agree that no penalty for your crime equals more crime! That’s why it’s so important to remember that we have a recently convicted multiple felon occupying the WH. It’s a big problem to let crime go unpunished, particularly when the criminal is allowed into a position of power where they can do it again. I’m thankful you see that too! Maybe there’s still hope for us as a country and a people to have our functioning democracy after all!

    • The top 25 “most dangerous cities in America” all ran by Democrats. Don’t believe me…look it up. Matter of fact, look it up twice. The “hard earned dollars” in those same top 25 aren’t going to the poor that’s for sure. Jus’ Sayin’

      • I looked it up, twice, because I think it’s important to always learn new things and even different views! What I found seems to contradict your statement. In your defense, you may just be receiving biased information in the form of studies that were run using inefficient parameters. It’s hard for most people to discern that, so it’s not you. It’s most people.

That second link will cover that topic well, and the first one is just basic stats on which cities are the most ‘dangerous’ based on a selection of factors, because the term ‘dangerous’ isn’t specific enough to mean anything in particular. For instance, red states have higher gun death rates than blue states. That’s very likely due to red states having higher numbers of guns and fewer gun control laws. Gun deaths are only one measure for defining what is ‘dangerous’ though.

I probably should have said “federal tax dollars” but that’s because I was addressing the political affiliation of the current controlling parties in all three branches of government. On a state level, I think you’ll see a similar trend regarding who is getting the most from their tax dollars and who are further enriching the obscenely wealthy who really don’t need it. You know, if we raised taxes on the smallest group of taxpayers, the obscenely wealthy, just by 1%, we could fund every service, support, education, healthcare, etc… basically everything we could hope for out of a first-world country, and give every one of us a quality of life that most people don’t know exists? It’s true. During the most productive eras of our country’s history, we were taxing the folks at the top at such a high number that you’d question if it were factual. Guess what. They didn’t care. It didn’t affect them in the slightest. It’s that simple.

That small group of folks at the top are just that wealthy, and yet are given lower tax rates than everyone else, in addition to all manner of government subsidies and welfare benefits. It’s important to know who is really oppressing you, and who helps them. Otherwise we end up having petty squabbles with each other so that we don’t notice them being the cause of the oppression. Partisan politics matters more when a party uses its reach to harm a majority of the populace. And it matters that it takes the entire populace of people of different parties to work together to stop it.

It’s not always a benefit to inject party affiliation into a conversation that doesn’t require it.
