Bishop Norman Hutchins passed away peacefully at his home in Carson, on June 5, at the age of 62. A singer, songwriter, and pastor, Hutchins was an eight-time Dove Award nominee and multiple Grammy Award nominee who was known for signature gospel songs like “Jesus, I Love You” and “God’s Got a Blessing (With My Name on It),” which become gospel music staples.
His homegoing service is set for Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m., at Love and Unity Christian Fellowship COGIC, 1840 S. Wilmington Ave., in Compton. Bishop Ronald Hill is the pastor and Lady Osie Hill is the co-pastor.
Dr. Hutchins dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through preaching, worship, and compassionate service. He and his wife, Karen, co-founded Frontline Ministries, a faith-driven mission that touched countless lives.

Hutchins faced serious health challenges over the years, including temporary blindness and kidney failure caused by diabetes. In 2014, he revealed to Path Magazine that needed a kidney transplant urgently, and his wife Karen turned out to be a perfect donor match.
Following his death, Karen recently shared, “Norman was not only my husband and partner in ministry but my greatest source of inspiration. His faith, strength, and love touched every soul he met. Though my heart is heavy, I am comforted knowing his legacy of hope and healing will continue to shine through the lives he changed.”

Norman Hutchins’ solo music career began 1992 when he signed with Sparrow Records. He went on to release 10 albums across Sparrow, JDI, and IR Records.
Along with his music career, Hutchins had served as pastor of Frontline Ministries in Dover, DE. He also served as minister of music at the West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles. In 2023, Hutchins was a headliner on the Brenda Marsh-Mitchell Gospel Stage at the Taste of Soul Family Festival in Los Angeles.
Hutchins is survived by his wife and three children.
