Imani Marlon Carey {BSO}
A man was arrested after allegedly going on a morning crime spree that included smashing glass storefronts and burglarizing multiple Lauderhill Mall businesses.
A June 2 Lauderhill Police Department report details multiple criminal incidents involving a man, identified as Imani Marlon Carey, 27, of Daytona Beach, beginning with the break-in of the Hot Miami Shoes store in the Lauderhill Mall.
Surveillance footage captured Carey picking up a rock and smashing the store’s glass door before entering and stealing a cash register box, a pair of sneakers, and approximately $100 in cash.
Just minutes after the Miami Shoes break-in, officers responded to another incident at a nearby Dollar General, located at 1180 North State Road 7. Video from that location allegedly shows Carey jumping into the bed of a pickup truck and stealing a lug wrench through a rear sliding window, then using it to break the store’s glass door.
Officers later spotted Carey outside the City Trend store in the same plaza. The report shows officers were able to stop him just as he picked up another rock and prepared to damage yet another storefront.
A search of Carey uncovered $5 and $1 bills totaling over $80, along with coins consistent with the stolen register cash and other items connected to the robberies.
Carey was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
