Man drowns while working on a bridge in Washington County

The preliminary findings on the death have been deemed an accidental drowning.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has an update on its drowning investigation that started on Wednesday following a search for a missing diver.

Law enforcement said after speaking with the First Judicial Circuit Medical Examiner’s Office, the preliminary findings on the death have been deemed an accidental drowning.

Officials have identified the individual involved in the incident as 45-year-old Rosendo Alberto Najera from Fort Meade, Florida.

According to the sheriff’s office, Najera was working for a company based out of South Florida, conducting bridge/piling repairs.

The sheriff’s office says their thoughts and prayers are with his family.
